Seminar on decentralized rural electrification with community priorities

June Lukuyu will give a presentation on decentralized rural electrification with community priorities.
Join us for a seminar to learn about how best to align technologies with community priorities.
As decentralized energy solutions, such as microgrids and standalone systems, gain prominence in rural electrification planning efforts internationally, challenges remain to ensure demand growth and reducing high system costs.
, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Washington, will present a participatory, community-driven model for rural electrification that centers local needs and participation, offering an alternative to conventional technology-first approaches.
The presentation is part of a three-seminar series on marine energy and rural electrification. The series, co-sponsored by ACEP and the Pacific Marine Energy Center, explores perspectives on rural electrification and community priorities, co-development and governance through the lens of marine energy, including riverine and coastal wave energy.
When: 2-3 p.m. AKDT, Thursday, May 8
Where:
The is a research consortium spanning three universities — University of AVÀÇÂÛ̳ Fairbanks, University of Washington and Oregon State University — on a mission to responsibly advance marine energy.
The last seminar of the series will be:
