Cold-weather reminder: Helping take care of our campus

Living and working in a sub-arctic environment means we all play a part in keeping UAF’s buildings safe, warm, and working as they should, especially during periods of extreme cold.
As you’re coming and going, please take a quick moment to make sure doors and windows close fully behind you. If you’re leaving a building after hours, or anytime a space should be secure, checking that doors close and latch properly really helps. Something as small as an open door or window can quickly turn into frozen pipes, damaged equipment, or security concerns when temperatures drop.
If you happen to notice open doors or windows anywhere on campus, or if a building or room feels colder than normal, please let us know right away. Early calls help Facilities Services respond quickly and often prevent much larger issues. We’ve had a few close calls recently, and your awareness truly makes a difference.
