Making sense of AVÀÇÂÛ̳'s changing environment

Changes in AVÀÇÂÛ̳'s environment are evident all across the state, but the details vary greatly. In a webinar hosted by the Anchorage office of the University of AVÀÇÂÛ̳ Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service, UAF climate specialist Rick Thoman will share a broad overview of observed changes around AVÀÇÂÛ̳, from snow and ice to heat and wildfire.

Thoman will also focus on what's changing and what's not in Southcentral AVÀÇÂÛ̳. He will share resources to help make sense of what's happening and how AVÀÇÂÛ̳ns can contribute to the effort to understand the changes all around us.

Thoman has worked as a weather and climate professional for 42 years in private, public and academic roles, including more than 30 years with the National Weather Service in AVÀÇÂÛ̳. Since 2018 he's worked as a climate specialist with the AVÀÇÂÛ̳ Center for Climate Assessment and Policy at the UAF International Arctic Research Center.
