Admission to the UAF/CSU combined program is paused for the Class of 2030
The fall of 2026 will be a time of significant change in the DVM program at CSU. The Fort Collins, CO campus will experience a new curriculum, enroll 30 more students in the first-year class, and move to . Because of the tremendous changes that this new curriculum will entail, to allow ample time for development of a high quality curriculum, and to allow UAF staff and faculty the opportunity to work directly with those implementing the new CSU curriculum in Colorado, the decision was made to pause the UAF-CSU program admissions for the 2026-2027 academic year.
We are committed to providing future students of the collaborative program with an exceptional education, and this additional year will assure the development of a robust curriculum. We'll also be using this time to make program and facility improvements at the Fairbanks, AK campus. Plans are underway to construct a new laboratory and classroom that is designed to support the updated curriculum and enhance the student learning experience.
Curriculum renewal experts from CSU will continue to travel to Fairbanks to provide workshops and otherwise support curriculum development and implementation here. This work and collaboration will allow us to begin admitting new students to start classes in the fall of 2027, continuing this longstanding, unique, and valuable partnership.
We know this may be unexpected news, and we want to assure our current and future students that this pause is not an end, but a transformation. When admissions resume, we look forward to welcoming students to a program that’s better than ever, a program shaped by modern best practices, improved facilities, and the same strong commitment to excellence that has always defined our partnership with CSU.
