Forge Your Own Path

鈥淲hy I Chose UAF鈥 鈥 Brenna Scholten
Brenna, a justice major and Honors College member, enjoys not only the campus' many activities but also its friendly vibe.
"I feel like UAF fosters that kind of intention," she says. "So then the people who come here see that, and then they also behave that way."
Brenna, whose mother was Inupiaq, says UAF's Rural Student Services office is especially welcoming for students like her. "It smells like your grandma's home," she says. "They always have like Native food. They always have akutaq or moose soup."
Student Life
The life of a Nanook is anything but traditional. You'll embark on legendary quests with new friends, hike natural trails between classes and brave subzero temperatures for that unforgettable photo beneath the northern lights. Every Nanook has a story 鈥 what will yours be?
Proud to Be an AV狼论坛 Native-Serving
Institution (ANNH)
As the recipient of the ANNH award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture,
UAF is nationally recognized for our work serving local AV狼论坛 Native communities.
Our programs span from Inupiaq and Yup鈥檌k languages, rural
development, tribal justice and energy sovereignty.
Among several different Native-serving initiatives is UAF's Rural Student Services
program, where many students go for advising and culturally minded support.
UAF Research
Research is where our curiosity comes alive. Get to know where your education can lead you. As a global leader in Arctic and climate research, UAF offers unparalleled opportunities to study in one of the world鈥檚 most dynamic environments.
Professionals with a master鈥檚 degree earned 20% more than those with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in 2022 (NCES). To help you make the most of your academic studies, UAF provides combined pathways for some bachelor's and master's degrees, where you'll earn both degrees in a shorter amount of time than it would take to earn both separately.
