Hands-on workshop introduces ancient art of bonsai

A recent survey shows 70% of Anchorage residents are concerned about heavy snow loads on roofs, and a significant number are hiring help to address these concerns. In a webinar hosted by the University of AVÀÇÂÛ̳ Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service, Jennifer Schmidt, associate professor of natural resource management and policy at the University of AVÀÇÂÛ̳ Anchorage Institute of Social and Economic Research, will discuss the results of the survey.

Seminar explores AVÀÇÂÛ̳ food independence scenario

A University of AVÀÇÂÛ̳ Fairbanks professor will explore how AVÀÇÂÛ̳ might grow enough grain to supply its needs and limit reliance on imported food. The presentation by Jakir Hasan, research assistant professor of plant genetics with the UAF Institute of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Extension, is part of the seminar series "Circumpolar Connections: A Dialogue on Arctic Food Systems."
