About PAIR
The Office of Planning, Analysis and Institutional Research was re-established at UAF in the autumn of 1998. Beginning in October 2025, PAIR was structurally transferred from the Office of the Provost to the Office of Management and Budget, which serves as the budget development, analysis, and strategic management arm of Administrative Services.
Our office is located in Eielson Building at 1820 Salcha Street in Room 215.

Our Mission
The Office of Planning, Analysis and Institutional Research offers a broad array of decision support services to all members of the university community. Its primary purpose is to facilitate the analysis and interpretation of institutional data and the provision of information to support planning and decision making.

The director's duties include direct data reporting to executive university management, managing the day-to-day operations of the office, performing analytic studies, organizing data reports and presenting findings to the university community. Chantelle joined PAIR in November 2015 and became director in July 2020.

Derek splits his time between PAIR (25%), the Office of Management and Budget (25%), and the Office of Information Technology (50%). Derek's areas of focus with PAIR: Factbook development and maintenance, and FileMaker Pro database development and maintenance. Derek joined PAIR in February 2016.

Julia supports automating routine reporting, developing data visualizations, documenting
data definitions, and is the main administrator for UAF course evaluations. Julia
joined the PAIR team in April 2023.

IR staff members carry out their work with the guidance of the , UAF’s guidelines for research involving human subjects, and Federal policy.
